"Dahlia is a positive impact on my life. She is rebellious, if not a difficult person. She, despite being someone who causes trouble, cares for her family, and friends. Dahlia, when put in a situation when most would have given up, she didn't give up and succeeded."

Summer learning Journey, Day 1 [Topic]

In class, we were doing part of the 'teaser week' of the 'Summer learning journey'. For day 1, we had the choice of doing a DLO for a few people who worked in 'Art and Entertainment'. One of those people was Lorde, so I did her.

Descriptive Writing [Writing]

Passion Project [Topic]

In class, we are making passion projects. For those who don't know what that is, it is a DLO of your choice about a subject. We had criteria to do it on something we didn't know a lot about, so I chose 'Alice in Wonderland (The Book)'. Here it is!

In class recently, we have been making animations or storybooks for 5 - 8-year-olds. The stories had to be about how a place got its name in Muriwhenua. I chose Kaitaia, and this is the animation.

My future career options [Topic]

In class recently, we have been looking at careers. We would go onto careers.govt.nz and do 'Careerquest', a quiz that would find jobs that match your interests. From the results, we had to choose 5 careers to put into this Career Project. I hope you enjoy this!

In Health, we had been looking at 'Te Whare Tapa Wha', or the 4 types of health last term. To showcase the learning, we had to create an infographic with Te Whare Tapa Wha and what the health types were. I hope you enjoy mine.

We had to write an information report for writing this week. Mine is about pirates and piracy. Did you learn anything about the subject, and if so, what?

Infographic [Writing]

For writing, we were given the task of making an infographic. I have done another one, about global warming, but this one is a very basic timeline of piracy. Did you learn anything from it, and if so, what?

Where no boat could live [Reading]

For reading, we had an article called, 'Where No Boat Could Live', by Robert Fyfe. It was about the Moriori's unique design of waka, which was a wash-through waka. We had to create a DLO, which described the points of a wash-through waka. This is mine!
 

Badge of Honour [Reading]

Recently, for reading, I have been working on this slideshow, which is about a story called 'Badge of Honour'. This was to learn about inferring. What do you think was good about my work?

Kiwiana DLO [Topic]

In class recently we have been creating projects about 'Kiwiana'. What we learnt was put into a DLO (Digital Learning Object). We each chose a Kiwiana object to focus on, and I chose Red Band Gumboots. Have a look!

First World War [Reading]

In class this week we have been doing work about the First World War, and how New Zealanders contributed. We had to write a summary about World War 1, and pinpoint where ANZAC fought. Netiquette [Cybersmart]

Recently, in class, we've been working around Netiquette for cybersmart. We had to create a DLO of Netiquette. I have finished mine and am sharing it with you. What do you think?

Simple and compound sentences [Writing]

In class, we have been learning about simple and compound sentences. We had to show our learning by writing a story with a mix of the two different sorts of sentences. I have written mine and am sharing it with you! Do you think there should be an alternative storyline? If you do, could you tell me what you'd change about it?

Animation Narratives [Writing]

In class for writing this week, we have been making animation narratives on google slides. I wrote mine about a person called Paddywack in a race. I suppose this is what happens when you try to keep it simple...

Kindness poster [Reading]

In our class, we are doing a novel study on the book 'Wonder' by L.J Palacio. We also had to create a drawing on google draw about the scene we were at in the book. The scene I created was when Summer asks to sit down at August's table. If you want to know more about the story, then you might want to read the book yourself!

Pop art

At the end of last year, I had finished all of the 'must do's' on the list, so I got to work on some pop art that had been a 'can do' for a while. I never got round to publishing it, so I am doing now. Here is how it's done...

You find your image you wish to 'pop art' and copy and paste onto google drawings. Then you use 'polylines', which are over here... of course, click the down arrow to find 'polyline'. 

Then you use polylines to make your own shapes which makes the image.
